DJ Utopianmind is Dutch but was born in Brussels (Belgium). His Father is Dutch and his Mother Maltese. He grew up in Belgium, England, Scotland, Malta, Morocco, The Netherlands and now lives in Cologne (Germany). About ten years ago he started listening to Goa trance and has not stopped since.
”I feel my background gives me a special connection to the music and the associated scene. For me Goa represents: free thought, free expression, a global family, lots of fantasy, optimism, the future and a world of mysteries to be discovered. These are all things I can relate to at a very personal level.” |

The Music

DJ Utopianmind started deejaying at private birthday parties in his early teens and this is something he still does today. When he was 17 he got his first Friday & Saturday residency in a Heavy Metal bar in the south of The Netherlands. He did this for about a year but then moved and had to give up the job. It was around that time that he encountered Goa Music for the first time.
A couple of years later he got a new residency while living in Aachen (Germany). This time it was a Thursday residency (Student Night) in a medium-sized, inner-city disco. All sorts of music was played here but almost all of it was pop. He deejayed there for about a year. In that time he also Deejayed at some 80s parties and towards the end of his time in Aachen he even got to Deejay at a small local Goa party. ”In March of 2006 I finally made the jump and invested into some proper Deejay gear so I could practice and finally Deejay the music I truly love: Progressive Psychedelic Trance” Since March 2006 DJ Utopianmind finally started Deejaying “HIS” music and now there is no turning back! |
